Alexandria, 21 September 2005—The Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA), in collaboration with the French Center for Alexandrian studies, is organizing a photography exhibition with the theme of a "ballade" or "promenade" from 25 September till 10 October. The exhibition displays various photographs, by students of Alexandrian schools, of different water surfaces in Alexandria such as El-Mahmoudia Canal, Mariout Lake and more.

This exhibition, a cooperation between the Alexandria Governorate and the BA from Egypt with the Provence-Alpes-Côte d"Azur (PACA) from France, is part of a project launched by the French Center for Alexandrian Studies (CEAlex). The project aims to educate the students of francophone and public schools in Alexandria on the culture and heritage of their city through field visits to several archeological sites. It also aims to promote their awareness of the importance of water.

Contributors to the event include the Regional Office for Youth and Sports in PACA, the Ministry of Higher Education in Egypt, the French Consulate in Alexandria and El-Ghad Association.
