The International Year of Astronomy 2009 at the BA

Alexandria—The BA Planetarium Science Center (PSC) is organizing a series of activities to celebrate the International Year of Astronomy (IYA) 2009 in Egypt, from 1 January to 20 November 2009.
The IYA 2009 is a global effort, initiated by the International Astronomical Union and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), to help citizens of the world rediscover their place in the universe through the day and night-time sky, and thereby engage a personal sense of wonder and discovery. The IYA 2009 activities will take place on global, regional, and especially national levels. The aim of this “Year” is to stimulate worldwide interest, particularly among young people, in astronomy and science under the central theme "The Universe, Yours to Discover”.
