The BA Alexandria and Mediterranean Research Center (Alex Med), in collaboration with the Norwegian Embassy in Cairo and Snøhetta architecture firm, organized a lecture entitled "From Oslo to Alexandria: Designing for People and Planet - Crafting Environments that Invite Dialogue and Shared Ownership" as part of the ongoing cultural cooperation between Egypt and Norway.
Dr. Marwa El-Wakil, Head of the BA Academic Research Sector, welcomed the attendees on behalf of Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the BA, highlighting the fact that the Library represents a gateway for communication between different cultures and a beacon for the exchange of ideas and knowledge among peoples.
For his part, Mr. Erik Husem, the Norwegian Ambassador to Egypt, stressed his country's support for this lecture, which aims to promote cultural dialogue and build bridges between peoples, noting his aspiration for future partnerships between the BA and Snøhetta to establish projects that achieve sustainable development.
Martin Gran, representative of Snøhetta, discussed the story behind the founding of the firm, which takes its name from a famous mountain in Norway, explaining that the BA design was their first major project, which launched their career that has included the design of thirteen libraries around the world.
