The Bibliotheca Alexandrina organized the Dry-Run Hackathon from 29 to 31 July via Zoom, in preparation for the Alexandria Quantum Hackathon scheduled to be held at the Library from 3 to 5 September 2025. The hackathon aims to enable students and researchers in the region to acquire advanced skills and techniques in quantum science.
The dry-run hackathon featured a packed schedule of interactive activities, with participants divided into teams under the supervision of expert mentors. Each team joined virtual breakout rooms, where three main challenges were presented in various fields, namely atmospheric chemistry in Egypt, weather forecasting in Cairo, and the exploration of new archaeological sites in Egypt. After each team selected one of the fields, they began working on solutions using quantum computing techniques.
The program also included two training workshops: the first on the art of presentation, and the second on how to effectively manage a hackathon project.
