The BA Hosts the 20th International Association for the Study of Traditional Environments (IASTE 2025)

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina has inaugurated the twentieth edition of the International Association for the Study of Traditional Environments (IASTE 2025) organized by the Library’s Academic Research Sector, in cooperation with the Faculty of Engineering at Alexandria University. This year’s conference, held under the theme “Cosmopolitanism and Tradition”, has witnessed the participation of Prof. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the BA; Dr. Abdel Aziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University; Dr. Mark Gillem, Director of IASTE and Head of the Conference; Dr. Walid Al-Barqi, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Alexandria University; Dr. Mohamed Assem Hanafi, Director of the Local Conference; and Dr. Marwa El-Wakil, Head of the BA Academic Research Sector.

The conference provides a vital platform for scholars and practitioners from around the world to explore how local traditions intersect with global identities within architectural, urban, social, economic, and cultural contexts.
