The First Cinema Photo Exhibition

The Art Center at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina organizes the First Cinema Photo Exhibition from 7 to 31 August 2003. The exhibition contains 160 photographs that document Egyptian, Arab and International cinema through the past century. The Exhibition presents the “Famous singers of the Egyptian cinema” collection that is being displayed for the first time, in addition to other collections that were shown in previous exhibitions at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina from September 2002 to May 2003.  The previous collections included photographs that were exhibited on the 75th anniversary of the movie Leila, and others on the occasion of the birthday of the famous international author, Naguib Mahfouz, and photographs of Milad Hassan Mourad, the founder of the Egyptian cinema magazine and others. The Arab collection of the exhibition includes pictures reviewing the “Lebanese war and peace” themes in the works of 4 Arab female movie directors. The exhibition also presents a collection dealing with international cinema such as “Santa Gate Ray World” who is one of the pioneers of Indian cinema, the Griffith-Chaplin collection, the Shakespeare collection, and the “Andre Tarkovsky collection”.  The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the BA and Maestro sheriff Mohie Eldin, Director of the art center.
