"The Forgotten Temple" at French and Egyptian Planetariums

The Planetarium Science Center (PSC) has just embarked upon a bilateral project with the Saint Etienne Planetarium in France to co-produce “The Forgotten Temple,” a documentary film about astronomy in ancient Egypt.

The project, proposed by Mr. Ghaouti Hansali, Director of the Saint Etienne Planetarium, will be a scientific and technical co-production. The French will provide financial support, and create the film’s graphics and animation.

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina will also contribute financially, and be responsible for the revision and translation of the scientific content, including archaeological and astronomical data, into Arabic. The PSC will also provide pictures and plans of the ancient Library, which will be used in the film to evoke Egypt’s contributions to astronomy. The film will be designed to incorporate all of the exciting and amusing elements of a planetarium show.
