The BA sent five active youth from the Youth for Environmental Sustainability and Better Understanding Program (YESBU) to represent the Library at the 4th World Youth Congress at Laval University in Quebec, Canada, from 10 to 21 August 2008. The 4th World Youth Congress “Regeneration 2008” is a celebration of youth led development which brings together 600 dynamic young activists between ages 18-30 from 120 different countries.
Dr. Salah Soliman, Advisor to the BA Director, stated that the nominated participants will use a presentation and a documentary to explain the various activities and environmental projects carried out at the BA with the aim to raise awareness on the importance of preserving resources to achieve sustainable development.
The 4th World Youth Congress is considered one of the most important global forums, which bring together young people from around the world to exchange views and ideas about their future and efforts to maintain sustainable development. The objectives of the Congress is to exchange expertise in the field of environment and sustainable development among young people, promoting awareness on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), and encouraging young people to implement sustainable development projects when they return to their countries.
The BA had previously participated in the Third World Youth Congress held in Scotland in 2005, with three youth from the Youth for Environmental Sustainability and Better Understanding Program (YESBU), one of whom has been selected Forum Coordinator for the Middle East.
