Murcia donates books to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina

The city of Murcia donated to the Library a collection of books and publications that were printed on the occasion of the cultural festival of the city. The collection focuses on the heritage of the city of Murcia that has strong historical links to the city of Alexandria.
It is known in history that following the Sectarian wars, a group of Spanish emigrants, namely from the city of Murcia, has immigrated to Egypt. Some of these emigrants settled in Alexandria since the fifth century of Hijra (11th century A.D.). One of the most prominent emigrants was Abu al-Abbas al-Mursiy who was born in Murcia in 616 H., died in Alexandria in 686 H. and was buried at the graveyards of the holy pious people. His mausoleum was distinguished due to the fact that he was the most prominent Sufi scholar of Alexandria.
The Bibliotheca Alexandrina has taken great interest in the heritage of Abu al-Abbas Mosque and has produced an index on its manuscripts.
The donations of Murcia included a picture-book on the history of Murcia during the Islamic Era, the book of “Reveling the Meaning concerning the Secret of the Ninety-nine Names of God” in both Arabic and Spanish languages, a collection of archaeological studies on the new discoveries of Murcia and the collections of the Islamic Art in the city.
