Center for Democracy and Social Peace Studies (CDSPS)

The Center for Democracy and Social Peace Studies (CDSPS) was established as an active promoter of peace and democracy in Egypt and the region. It is dedicated to encouraging and disseminating the culture of peace and democracy, and developing the abilities of women and young people to create the conditions for sustainable peace and human security.
 

The primary aim of CDSPS is to explore the possibilities of peaceful and democratic transformations on the local, national, regional and international levels, study means to build conditions conducive to peace and justice, and provide intellectual and practical skills necessary for that end, with particular focus on human rights, conflict analysis, conflict resolution, mediation and negotiation.
 

The core activity of CDSPS is to provide expert training and conduct research in democracy, women’s political participation, non-violent conflict management and resolution, and peace building. Through its multidisciplinary approach to teaching and research, CDSPS aims at increasing people’s awareness, encouraging them to support peace, building individuals’ capacity to foster dialogue and reconciliation.
 

Seeking to expand its role on the regional and international levels, CDSPS engages in strategic partnerships with institutions, intergovernmental, and nongovernmental organizations involved in peace and democracy studies worldwide.
